A Letter To My Family

I want to address all of you at once so I don't have to keep repeating myself. If anyone doesn't have a computer, please pass on my request.
I have finally decided what I want to do with my website. I want to have my music available 24 hours a day for free. Each song will be picked for it's beat, if it makes you want to dance or tap your foot, also songs that inspire you or have good advice, songs of love, fun kids songs, and spiritual songs that make you want to move to the groove. There won't be any songs that depress you or have anything negetive in their message. So far I've picked 2500 songs for the playlist that I use for my ipod and most of them will be on the website but I have 35,000 songs that still need to be sifted through for consideration, and hooray I have the winter coming up to take up those days that aren't fit for working outside. Hopefully there will be a lot of them in the next five or six months of crummy weather.
Now most of you know how I feel about Christmas. It's always bugged me how stressed out I get trying to find the money for gifts without going deeper and deeper into debt, maxing out credit cards and deciding what someone might want. I've even gone so far as to skip Christmas a couple of times but regretted not being with the family. For myself, I have enough clothes, appliances, and "things" to last a lifetime with not enough room for anything more. I'm trying to scale down to the bare necessities so I'm asking all of you to please take me off your gift list, but there is one thing I'd like from every one of you. I'd like your help choosing the songs for the website by making me a list of at least 20 songs that you feel would be suitable. If you want to send me the list in a Christmas card I won't complain about the cost of the card because I like reading the message you wish to express. The card isn't necessary though, you could also email me your list or send them to me on a cd. If I don't already have the song I'll get it. You can also send me as many as you want, you don't have to limit them to 20. I'm just trying to have as many great songs as possible so the same songs won't be repeated over and over again like the radio stations do. There is a list of about 14,000 songs (not all suitable) on the website now that you might go through if you're having trouble coming up with your list. As for what you'll get from me in return, I'll be spending time choosing a card for each of you and if there's anything you'd like that belonged to your dad/stepdad/grandpa/greatgrandpa, please just ask for it. I'll even share his ashes with anyone who wants them.
I've asked a few of you for help with the website but haven't gotten a response so far and that's okay. If you don't want to be involved I'm not going to feel bad or stress about it, I would just like this to be a family affair. Let's all get together over the holidays and Let's All Dance!
I love you with all my heart and soul. Mom/Grandma/Greatgrandma Happy Halloween!

A Letter To Steve Ballmer

When I heard about you traveling the world, lecturing on how "You Can Change The World," I decided to let you know how I would change the world, especially if I had a lot money at my disposal. During the Memorial Day Weekend, I passed you in our local grocery store and said "Hi Steve" and you said hi back and asked how I was doing. I said great and we went on our way. I wanted to tell you then how I would change the world but I could see you were busy shopping with your friend in the yellow shirt, high-fiving and doing the jump & bump that jocks do, back by the milk, so I refrained from bothering you. Since then I've gotten sidetracked but am now ready to give you my opinion on the subject.
I would build a community center for every, let's say 5000 people. It would be a safe haven for any child from birth on and for anyone else in the community who needs something to do and someone to talk to. A community bus would be available to transport anyone there who wanted to come so no one would have to be home alone or forced to be with someone who doesn't have their best interests at heart. There would be fresh food for the hungry, child care, good music for dancing, help with school work, and plenty of socializing. I feel it could be completely run by private donations with the help from city, county and state. If we start taking care of our neighbors from the very beginning, we are going to have a big decline in the problems that stem from the neglect that happens just because we are forced to leave our children alone or in the hands of people who could cause them harm. There would be a lot less screwed up people in our society if we all get together and make sure our kids are well taken care of from the start.
I'd be glad to share my ideas about the center with you and would even be willing to leave my grounds maintenance business to run the first community center, to be the model for every community if you are willing to build it. I doubt that your Island home is your only home but you should know by now that we need something more here for everyone to do and I think this is the answer, not only for our community but for all the communities around the world. Let's all pitch in and take care of our neighbors and Let's All Dance! Sincerely, Bonnie

P.S. I forgot to mention that it really bugs me to see the grass around the big white rock by your driveway that was not trimmed when your caretaker mowed. If you ever need a caretaker, keep me in mind because I'd never leave the job done half-assed, although I hope to be out of this business in the next few years. Thanks for your time, Bonnie

Done Dieting

I'm going to eat to live instead of living to eat, stay out of the aisles at the store where all the processed foods are and the junk, and really think about what I'm putting into the grocery cart and my mouth. I don't have a meal time anymore, I just eat when I'm hungry and sometimes it only takes an apple to fill that void. The Farmer's Market ends this weekend for the season. I'm really going to miss their wonderful fresh vegetables but I'll survive the winter until they start up again in the spring even though it won't be the same.

Alone At Last

While lying in bed last night hoping the Tylenol PM will kick in, I suddenly realized that for the first time in 62 years I'm actually alone and not having to cater to someone elses needs. I can do what I want, when I want to, can eat anything I want, even popcorn for dinner if that's how I feel, don't have to go to the store every day, I can dance all over the house without having to be quiet, I can go to work or not without waiting for someone else to get ready or rely on anyone else but myself. It's a feeling that's gonna take a little getting used to.
When my youngest daughter was in such a hurry to move off the Island to be with her boyfriend in another city, I felt abandoned although she did come back when I needed her the most, and if she ever needs to come back for any reason I would never regret letting her because if I had felt welcome at my parents my life might have been completely different, but for now I'm going to make the most of my freedom by working on changing my life. There just has to be a better way than mowing lawns for a living.

Penelope Petunia & Berta Buttercup

I'm so thankful for these rainy days so I can stay home with Berta. She's 12 days old, her eyes are open and she's a fat little pig. Being the only pup she doesn't have to fight for a nipple but I fear Penny won't have enough milk to last until she's weaned. Penny sure looks like she's drying up to me but everytime Berta eats her belly gets full and she has milk coming out her nose so "so far, so good."
It even looks like Penny is finally done trying to carry her around by her head and might even leave her in the birthing box instead of insisting she sleep on my bed all night. She has fallen off 3 times now so that has to stop.
Last night I began my night of t.v. watching with America's Funniest Home Videos. The laughter I experience for the whole hour is so good for my soul, and then having Extreme Home Makeover next takes care of the compassion for others that we all need. That teacher sure deserved all she got and her children did too. Imagine being so ashamed of your house that you won't even let your friends come over. I've certainly been there, even to the point of moving into a tent because it was better than the house we were renting at the time.

Vote Yes on I-1000 (Death With Dignity)

Paul Newman died of lung cancer a few days after my husband died. I'll bet that Joanne didn't have to watch him struggle with every breath and that he was able to receive medication that eased him from this life. Now I see Martin Sheen in ads asking Washington residents to vote No on I-1000, calling the initiative (Assisted Suicide). Is he even a resident of this state or did they pay him just because he's an actor and they think the people will do as he says? I wonder if he ever had to watch a loved one die a slow and painful death just because it's illegal in that state? My husband begged for pills before he died. I asked him what pills and he said any pills, so I gave him his prescribed morphine dose of one 50 mg. and one 15 mg. I promised myself that if he was still alive in the middle of the night, when I was the only one with him, I was going to empty a full bottle of the liquid morphine into his mouth and hope he could still swallow, but he gave up his fight shortly after the 2 pills but not before gasping for each breath. It was horrible to watch. I was thankful that I didn't have to carry out my plan to help him leave us and his struggle to breathe.
