01/31/2010: "Loan Modifications.....Bullshit!"

It was ment to give relief to homeowners who found themselves losing their houses due to the bad loans they were talked into by unscrupulous loan officers. I jumped on the offer of a loan modification before losing my house by not being able to afford another adjustable rate hike.
I probably shouldn't have given them so much information about why I could no longer continue to pay those high payments. It took them 9 months to finally tell me I wasn't qualified for the modification because I didn't have enough income. Duh! It didn't matter to them that I always made my payments on time and I didn't involve them in my backruptsy two years ago.
They also told me that it wasn't up to me to say how much I could afford. If I would have left them alone and not called them at the beginning of the year to find out what was the hold-up, maybe I could have slipped through the cracks. I know why they didn't think I made enough money. When they asked for my 3 months of bank statements for my checking account, I asked them if they wanted the savings account also, but they said that wasn't necessary. I always put some of my income into the savings so I could pay my quarterly state taxes and I'm sure it wasn't counted as income.
Now they are telling me I owe them back payments that I have to pay or I would be foreclosed on. I'm not sure which direction I'll go now, but I do know that I'll keep saying, "Let's All Dance!"
