01/08/2010: "The New Health Care Plan Is Also Bullshit!"

I believe no matter what plan we decide to finally keep, nothing is going to change unless we rid the system of everyone who is only in it for the money. Instead of spending all that money on a new health plan how about sifting through all the waste and corruption of the Medicare system. Open it up to all who need free health care instead of just the elderly, while letting everyone who can afford it keep their own health insurance.
Medicare supports hundreds of thousands drug addicts. Addictive drugs should only be allowed for a short time, although there are plenty of exceptions to the rule, but if your loved one has an addictive personality instead of a valid reason why they are on any narcotic, then they should be rehabilitated instead of letting them live the rest of their lives loaded out of their minds.
Medicare also would rather prescribe a drug that doesn't work, time after time, because it's cheaper than a drug that works but costs considerably more. An example is my husband had a sore on his leg and an antibiotic oinment was prescribed that cost $5.50 but didn't heal the sore. The hospice nurse had to call the Friends of Hospice, an organization who steps in if Medicare or an insurance company won't pay for the more costly drug, to see if they'd pick up the bill for $95.00 for a cream that healed it in a week. The nurse told me it happens all the time, some idiot is in charge of the decision making, so why don't we take a real close look at the whole health care system and fix it before we waste years trying to come to an agreement on a new plan. "Let's All Dance" before taking the next pill.
