Still Waiting

Always waiting for this and that. Right now we are waiting for the hospital bed to be delivered. He needs it to keep his legs elevated because they are always swelling. I'm waiting to hear my results from the blood tests and mammogram I had last week. The receptionist told me, (off the record) that the chest xray looked good but that wasn't the test I was worried about.
Tomorrow we go back to the oncologist, hoping to get his medications straightened out. He decided not to have the biopsy and the PET scan. He said no more tests and thinks that they only want the money the tests will generate for them now. Having the tests won't extend his life so why go through them.
I've felt he has had a wasted life but the more I think about it, he did produce 4 children who wouldn't be on this earth if he hadn't had those sexual urges that created them, plus the seven grandchildren, so far, all of whom might be grateful for their life. It's not easy watching him waste away.
I'm getting real worried about him blowing up the house because he won't stop smoking while having his oxygen hose is in his nose. Dancing in the early morning makes it easier to make it through the day.

Complete Physical

Only 5 hours to go and I'll be getting a blood test and my first doctor's appointment in six years. I think it's time for me to get some questions answered about my concerns over my health that I've been having for too long now. I just need to know whether I'm going to be up for dealing with his time left on this earth. He refused an MRI he was supposed to have last Saturday because they stressed not to wear any metal and then he said, "what about the bullet?" that's near his spine. So until they can guarentee it's not a problem, that test won't happen. He gets his port-a-cath implanted tomorrow, not for chemo but for when he can't swallow his pain meds any longer. When they said he could get his pain medication injected there he readily agreed to the implant. The biopsy is Friday.
I like my new doctor. She's practised for many years and I think I might have gone to her about 15 years ago. I can't wait for all the tests to come back. Let's All Dance and forget about the stress.

Smoke That Cigarette

Well I thought all the compassion was gone from me but I find I can't do enough to make his life more comfortable, even letting him smoke in the house. Since emphysema wasn't enough to make him quit smoking I'm sure now that he has lung cancer he figures why stop now, the damage is already done, and I'm tired of stressing over the fact that he won't stop for anyone. I'm not sleeping well so I get up and put on my mp3 player and do my dancing very early before he wakes up.

For Our Daughter

Fucking lung cancer! Now he's got fucking lung cancer. Pardon my language but that's the first word that came to mind when the doctor gave us the news in the emergency room yesterday. After about 24 hours of spitting up blood he finally agreed to go to the hospital. Six hours later we got the results of the final x-ray that confirmed a number of tumors on the right side and a big mass on the left. He has an oncologist appt. on Tuesday for more tests, I imagine it's to determine how long he has left, because the doctor said it doesn't look very good. I should feel some compassion for him with this latest news but I know he realizes why I don't. I just don't have any love or compassion for him, left to give. He sucked me dry eight years ago. My only compassion now is for our daughter because she still loves him even though she has seen how selfish he is and only cares about himself. His other three children no longer speak to him. I'll be curious as to whether they will find enough compassion to come and say their goodbyes. What a wasted life! I don't feel like dancing today.
