"We Must Have Been Stoned Crazy When We Thought We Were Just Friends"

On the Today Show this morning was a man who lost mass weight and said, "Nothing tastes better than thin feels." I can't wait to feel that way. I'm still stuck at 155 but not going up either. I feel as though I am shrinking a little but the scale doesn't seem to want to back up that statement. I did go to 154 the other day but went straight to the store and got a rib steak to celebrate, because they were on sale and that is my favorite steak. The only other food that I'm told I have to give up is butter, and I just have a hard time accepting the fact that I have to give that up also if I want to get down 40 pounds. I'm down to eating flourless, sprouted wheat, whole grain bread for my toast in the morning and without butter I doubt that I could stand it. I'm even feeding the crusts to the bullies so I eat less, but if I stay stuck on this weight another week I might try giving up the butter and the bread for awhile. Now I hear there's an obesity virus and there might be a cure for it.
I have a bit of advice for anyone who might need to replace their water heater. "Do not" turn on the power to check if it's wired right before filling it with water. You'll be buying new elements for it if you do. It was just another hard lesson for me to learn in the last few months. I'll get it right someday! Some other advice, "Let's All Dance."

Been Workin So Hard Out Washing My Car #6

The President is talking about being neighborhood people, so I hope to get out the word for the need of community centers for every community. Maybe he can help make this happen.
Think about this scenario--A wife realizes her husband is still not home from work so she starts to fear what will happen when he finally makes it home. He's obviously at the bar again, the drinking doesn't stop until he's wasted. The wife calls the community center to come and pick up the kids where they will stay until it's safe to go back home. If the kids were there when he finally gets home he would have started yelling at them and finds some excuse to smack them around. Since they are safe at the community center they are getting help with their homework, getting something to eat, and are able to have fun in the dancing room, getting their exercise, while their dad calmly goes to bed and passes out. The mom only needs to call the community center and her children are delivered back home.
The safe haven of the community center would be open 24 hours a day to all who need help from time to time. It's run entirely on donations from the community. If we take care of all children from the moment they are born and provide a safe place for them while their parents are dealing with the day to day struggles of providing for them, we'll have a lot more well adjusted members of society instead of all the people who fall through the cracks and fill our courtrooms and prisons because their parents didn't have the help they needed. More later, "Let's All Dance."

Obama Inauguration

It's finally here! I've felt like this before when JFK held his hand on the bible and took the oath of office. I just can't help but wonder how this country might have been different if only he'd been allowed to be our President for 8 years. I have the "Audasity of Hope," that this wonderful family will be leading us for his full two terms.
Aretha singing. I still love all her music.
Joe Biden getting sworn in. He's got to be better than the last. Cheney wrecked his back lifting moving boxes, so he's in a wheel chair. He doesn't have someone to do that?
The big boys of the strings are now playing. I wonder if their fingers are cold and were they given hand-warmers while they waited to play. They played past the time that he should have taken the oath. It's five after noon when he put his hand to Lincoln's bible. He's just a bit nervous, a couple of pauses. I wonder how the sound is back by the Lincoln Memorial and are there huge screens televising the speech. I think that I have a better view of the proceedings here at home and I didn't have to travel all that way or put up with the crowds or pay all that money just to be a part of history.
"We Need To Find A Place That We Are Safe." 'Praise Song For Walking Forward In That Light" Two lines from the poem after his speech. Two more reasons why I have to keep spreading the word for the need for safe havens that are needed in every community.
The sun is poking through the fog so I'd better get to work. I'm sure I won't miss any of the proceedings, they'll keep showing it over and over again for days.

Another Turning Point A Fork Stuck In The Road #5

I finally got all the videos of Berta on YouTube. I still haven't put the link to my website with the chance to win an ipod shuffle but will somehow figure out how to do that also. My daughter will be here tomorrow so maybe together we can get it done after work. I've got a lot of work saved for her so I hope the weather is good to us. I've been on the blower all week, cleaning up all the debris from the last few wind storms off the lawns but haven't picked it up yet.
I thought I finally found the answer to my hair in my face all day with the purchase of my new headphones. They hooked on my ears and my shuffle plugs directly into it so there's no wires to deal with, but they fell apart this morning after only 2 weeks. I taped them together but now they fall off my ears. I'm sure it will be more trouble than they are worth to get a new pair and since they are plastic I'm sure they won't hold up to my daily use any better. I may go back to Apple to write a review of the product though so the next person won't be fooled like me. I doubt that anyone uses their ipod all day every day like I do but it would be nice if I could find a decent product.
I've been told the lines from the songs I have in my subject line are hard to guess, so I might try some easier songs, but I don't want it too easy because I want the families to have to get together to help guess the songs from their generation. Come on, Let's All Dance!"

Boy You Should Know I've Got You On My Mind #4

I ate the last two pieces of fudge this morning after my toast and butter. The fudge was the last of the goodies from us finally celebrating Christmas on the 10th. The kids decided that I should make the cookies and fudge because they were gonna get serious after the holidays. I gave away most of it but still had a few cookies and the fudge left yesterday. I finished it off without too much guilt and now I'm ready to loose my 40 pound belly..
A good friend of mine, whose fighting for his life with cancer of the esophagus, told me if I expect to loose any weight I have to give up all animal products. No more butter, cheese, eggs, meat, etc. I keep believing that I can lose 40 pounds and not give it up but I keep stalling after the first 5 pounds. All I have to do is stop eating so much and don't buy crap, stay out of the aisles except the organic aisle, and just buy fresh food. There isn't any more holidays for awhile except Valentine's Day and since he's gone I don't have to have the guilt of eating chocolates. There's a few birthdays coming up but I think I'll look for a healthy reciepe for dessert.
I'm not buying any more butter, even though it's 3 for 5.00 this week, and no other animal products either and try it his way for awhile, so when it's gone, it's gone. I know Oprah & Bob Greene would tell me I have to feed my body every few hours but I think the only way I can do it is to eat practically nothing, and Let's All Dance.

Old Man Wriggley Lived In That White House #3

I think the reason why Steve Ballmer is on my vision board is because he's the one traveling the world telling people that they can change the world and yet his own community is in dire need of the help that people like him could bring.
On our Island the need for a community center started discussions in 1998. The original idea was to have child care services and senior services combined under the same roof with a common area for community gatherings. There was some very prominent members of the community on the board who started fund raising for the project. Here it is 11 years later and they still haven't raised as much as they need to begin. The child care center backed out as did the senior center so I suppose if it ever gets opened it will end up being something completely different from it's original purpose.
I went to one of their meetings with my idea for a place to dance. I was willing to be part of their center as long as I could provide music for the young and old in part of the building. They dismissed my ideas and continued on with their own agenda, so here we are still without a community center.
I think it's up to the people like Steve Ballmer and the other well to do members of each community to donate the money to build centers that provide safe havens for our neighbors and a place to gather.
Why does it take 11 years of no progress? Let's All Dance!

I Hitched A Ride With A Vending Machine Repairman. #2

I think it was on 30 Rock that said you don't have to pay royalties if you only use 3 seconds of a song, but that doesn't mean that it's true. So I'll just show the videos on YouTube as they are with no music, but put lines from songs in the subject line of my blog, and make a contest out of it. Just guess what song and artist the line is from. I'm going to start the contest at the end of the month for the first chance to win an ipod shuffle. I think I'll use the songs that each of you sent me and maybe some of my own. Come on Let's All Dance.
