Once I Was A Boogie Singer, Playin' In A Rock And Roll Band

I've finally let my hopes and dreams go after realizing that my dreams aren't the same as my childrens dreams. I've felt for years that if I could just come up with the money to build that safe haven for those who really need it and employ my children in all aspects of the business, then my life would be complete. I couldn't think of any other people I'd rather work with than my children. It would mean my oldest son wouldn't have to commute on the ferry and be in that traffic every day. I pictured him and my grandson cooking in the kitchen and handling any problems that might arise with the security of the place. My daughter-in-law wouldn't have to be at the meat wrapping machine ever again.
My oldest daughter has been working at our grocery store ever since she was 15. It's been almost 30 years in the same job. I know she would be great at the book-keeping part of the business, and wouldn't have to work for unappreciative employers and locked in to union wages. It would also mean that her husband wouldn't be flying back and forth to Alaska every 3 weeks if he worked for us too. It has been said that he could be the president of the company he works for, if he would just move up there, so I have that fear of them moving away some day. Their 2 kids would also be excellent additions for the center and wouldn't have to go away to college.
My 2 youngest children have moved off our Island but are only about 90 miles away so I'm very thankful they are still near enough for family get togethers and holidays. They are both very loving people who would be great dealing with the kids at the community center.
I've also pictured my dead husbands kids and grandkids working there. I had this vision of all of us working together and living together on this Island. I'd like to get them out of the city to our Island paradise, but the more I've tried to include them the less I've heard from them. Just because I can't live without music in my ears all day, I've realized it's just not that important to them.
But like I said, my dreams are not my childrens dreams, and since I haven't been able to get anyone to put up a couple million to make my dream come true, I've thought about what else would make my life complete. Living out my life in the rock house and helping care for the horses. Let's All Dance til then.

Happy Birthday To Us!

I'm only feeling slightly guilty for going off my diet yesterday, and had lasagna and garlic bread at the February birthday party. I felt I deserved to indulge because I've been so good and have finally moved under 150. I guess I should give credit to giving up bread, butter, and meat products. So what do I read this morning on the msn news but the concerns for people eating only raw vegetables or very few calories in a day. I think the only way it works is just deciding not to give up, watching what you put into your mouth and how much. It's really a simple process and yet we try different diets and buy everything you can get your hands on that's connected to weight loss, and nothing works.
I even brought home leftovers so I could have it again today, but then I'll get back to business. It's my daughter's fault for making such great lasagna anyway.
I tried making myself believe there was this giant tumor in my stomach and no matter how much weight I lost the big stomach would still be there, but the truth is when I do drop a few pounds my stomach actually gets smaller, imagine that, so I can't use that excuse either. You'd think looking like a 63 year old that's 9 months pregnant would be reason enough to get serious about losing but I think it just has to do with it finally being the right time. All my ducks are in a row, so it's time to do it. Let's all dance it off!

It was 1989, My Thoughts Were Short, My Hair Was Long

Nadya Suleman, the octuplet's mom, say's she's stopping her life for them, providing herself to her children, being present in their lives, and then in her next breath she say's she's going back to school in the fall so she can provide for them with a good income. Who's going to "be present for them" while she's in school? Are her parents really going along with this? I think she'd better just find the best deal for the right's to her story and stay home with her 14 kids in a new house instead of her parents 3 bedroom house.
She injured her back at work in a mental hospital riot, went on disability and proceeded to have 6 children, all conceived by invitro-fertilization. Did the tax-payer have to pay for this? When she does finally decide on the best deal she should have to pay back whoever has been supporting her. I'll be interested in seeing her other 6 kids and how well adjusted they are, on Dateline tuesday night.
Also in the news is Michael Phelps being photographed while smoking pot in a bong. Yes he was an idiot for doing it at a party where everyone has cell phone cameras but he was on a break from swimming and I'd be willing to bet that if he swam his best while not being loaded and then did it again after smoking some pot, his performance wouldn't be all that different.
I wonder how many of his sponser's that are pulling out because of this, have smoked pot in their past, and know it's not that big a deal but have to make a point to "Joe Public" that they don't condone this behavior for fear of losing the publics support.
Michael can't be all bad, he has a bulldog as a pet. Hey Michael, smoke at home!
Some friends of mine lost their brother yesterday morning. It made me think how bad it would be to lose mine. They both battled the same disease but mine seems to have turned his health around. I hope I go before any more of my family dies. It's just so hard to see them sick and wasting away.
I hope to dance ahead of any life threatening disease. Let's All Dance!

Now Here You Go Again, You Say You Want Your Freedom

Let's start all over again. If you are stressed out over your never ending bills, file for bankruptcy, and don't feel bad about it. Everyone is doing it, even reputable businesses, so why don't you? Haven't you paid enough interest to those fat cats who are collecting those big bonuses every year.
I feel credit is so over-rated. Let's go back to the 50's when we didn't have credit cards and paid cash for most everything we owned, except our homes. Sure we might not be able to buy a home, but then owning a home isn't all that great especially if you lose your job, they just take it from you no matter what you owe on it.
Medical insurance is also over-rated. You pay big bucks every month for insurance and if you miss a few payments you're canceled. They've taken years of payments from you and then drop you at the first chance they get. Go to a doctor once a year and get a complete check-up. If the doctor doesn't find a problem you'll have all those "what if's" satisfied and can go on about you life knowing you're in good health. It costs around $1000.00 for a complete check-up and you can save all those premiums in your own account in case you want to start saving for the chance of getting sick. Sure there are many people who have benefitted from health insurance but if you can't afford it, stop putting out all that money.
I think every hospital should have 3 or 4 doctors who make house calls. It would sure ease up our emergency rooms and also ease up the minds of people who think something is wrong with them when there isn't.
There's so many crooks in the health care industry, living off those premiums you pay every month in one way or another so let's stop supporting them.
Let's all dance, get off your butts and move, it might just keep you out of the doctors office.

There's A Place Up Ahead And I'm Goin Just As Fast As My Feet Can Fly

Super Bowl Sunday. Three million for a 30 second commercial. Ivar's paid for a half second commercial. That's going to be hard to spot without staring at it constantly, but I'm sure the local news will show it over and over. I may tape it in case I miss some of the other commercials. For 3 million they'd better be good.
It's going to be a day of over-indulgence, but not for me. The cravings are gone, and mentally I know it's portion control that's my last hurdle. It's time to kick this in gear, stop making excuses and tell it like it is. Apparently we have to be told over and over again before we finally get it. For instance, whose idea was it to remind us, daily for two years, that there wouldn't be antenna reception after Feb. 2009. They even felt the public wasn't ready yet and wanted to extend the deadline for another 4 months. I guess it's because we don't listen, and have to be told many times before it finally sinks in. For example, Cesar Milan. People with unruly dogs watch him every week, while he tells people what idiots they are still letting the dogs run their lives and yet they still don't apply it to their own animals. It's the same with the Nanny. We like seeing her telling the parents that they are the problem, not the kids, and then they go back to ignoring their kids and abusing them. It all comes down to one thing. Let's begin today and take care of all the babies, animal and human. When they make a sound let them know you are listening. They just want to know you're there. Set limits and mean it. If you can't do it alone let's make it a community effort. Everything needs to know what's expected of them and to not feel ignored. There's a few more things I'm going to say for one last time since it seems to still be a problem for a lot of people.
If you want to quit smoking, don't light another. Yes you'll be uncomfortable for a few days but you won't die by quitting. So what are you afraid of?
If you want to lose weight, stop eating so much and stop buying crap. If it's not in the house you can't eat it.
Get off your ass and move. You have to move your legs to keep them working to carry you through life so "Let's All Dance!"
