"The End of My Weight Loss Journey, 2012"

It's been 3 years since I started "My Weight Loss Journey." My last attempt was joining Weight Watchers Online. My daughter had been on it for 2 months and lost 12 pounds,so I thought I'd give it a try. I started January 1, 2012. I did very good the first few months and then I had a big craving for home-made pot stickers. I'm pretty sure I ate 20 or so in a couple days. Then my daughter started working and mentioned that she might as well not try to stay on her diet since she would be eating the restaurant food a few days a week. After that it just didn't seem that important enough to stay with weight watchers because nothing will work if you don't make that commitment and get some self control. Here's the deal. Eat half as much as you normally do and get off your ass a few hours a day, at least. You have to move every part of your body in order to get all the aches and pains straightened out. I don't know how many times I've said it but no one wants to believe that's all you have to do. They look at me like I'm nuts to even mention it. Why won't it sink in? Even in my head.
I'm going to start right now. My lipoma has been gone for 6 days and my kidney surgeon said "See you in 2 years," so at least I'm not worried about the possibility of having cancer for awhile.
I can't believe how great my arm feels without that huge thing sitting on my muscle. I'll bet it was a few pounds. I'll have to check on that.
Today is my grandaughters 21st birthday. I hope she handles her liquor well. My oldest son always takes the kids for their first legal drinks at the bar and then delivers them back home. What a guy!

Back To Life

I've been gone so long, over 2 months, and I think it was just the fact that I could have been dead by now if it hadn't been for the appendicities and the discovery of the mass on my kidney. It turned out to be papillary renal carcinoma that grows very fast but it was contained to just the one kidney so it didn't spread and I didn't have to have chemo or radiation. I'm also very thankful for laproscopic surgery so I didn't have to have more than a small incision and 4 tiny holes, making the recovery in 5 weeks, although I did try to go back to work in 4 weeks but soon realized I needed another week. The worst part was the discovery of my muscles needing time to get back to where they were, so "Let's All Dance!

"I'm Singing In The Rain"

It looks like it might rain all day but I need a day off anyway. I just hope my son has the rest of the day dry for the rib contest.
It also looks like I might have to live the rest of my life with only one kidney. The surgeon said it has grown from 2.8 centimeters to 4 in just a month, so it is a very fast growing mass. He said I could live the rest of my life with only one kidney. I feel like asking him how long the rest of my life is but I guess I'd rather not know when it comes right down to it. They don't like to commit themselves until they get in there to say just what kind of mass it is so for now it's just a left renal mass. Surgery is scheduled in 6 days.
I feel very fortunate that my Medicare started in February and my secondy insurance started July 1st. I almost got help from DSHS to pay for my appendix bills that Medicare didn't cover but then I picked up a few new jobs during the month that I was applying for so my income was too great to qualify. I contacted the hospital and they said they would work with me to get my payments to them affordable. I'm sure there are many others who can't afford it so they can have my share.
I had to hire extra help so I'd be caught up in all my accounts when I have to take time off. I couldn't really afford to pay them but at least I won't have mass work to come back to after I heal.
I'm totally convinced that I'm not a good boss. I have a hard time telling them to stop talking and texting all day. The best I could do was to tell them to keep moving when their mouths move. I told them they don't have to not talk just keep the work going when the mouth opens. Oh well, at least I won't have to do that again for awhile. If I can just keep the rest of my body in tune I'll probably make it a few more years. I can sure feel it if I don't get my morning dance in so "Let's All Dance"

Oh Me, Oh, My!

I spent the Memorial Day weekend in the hospital getting my appendix removed. I usually have a 3 day wait before I go to the doctor, but after a day and a half of the pain staying in one place, I decided to go to the hospital. I got there at 5 pm but the CT scanner was broke. I had to wait until 11:30 before it was repaired & they were finally convinced that I had appendicites. They said the surgeon would be there at 6:00am but I didn't get into the O.R. until 9:30. I'm just glad it didn't burst by then.
They did laparoscopic surgery so it wasn't very painful at all and the recovery has gone on very fast. I'm very glad I got appendicites because the scan also showed a mass on my kidney, so now I'm dealing with that. I won't be going to the same hospital for this though, I'm going to the UW for the biopsy and then if it's cancer I'll be going to the Cancer Care Alliance. My hand is still black and blue from the nurse missing my vein for the I.V. With veins like mine I don't know how they could miss it. Hopefully it's a harmless mass and all will be fine but we'll see.
I haven't worked since the surgery and it's the longest I've ever been off work. I haven't even danced but I'm going to try tomorrow morning because I sure miss it, in fact, "Let's All Dance!"

The End of the World

Well the world didn't come to an end today so I guess I have to make the best of what's happening. I'm way behind in all my accounts because of the rain, but at least I got the winery neat and tidy for the wine tour this weekend. They gave me a raise for the extra mowing I have to do now that the manager is no longer there who did this extra work.
I'm also on the foreclosure list with my mortgage company even though I paid a law firm to handle the modification $2600.00. All they did was take my money and have me fax them monthly bank account statements and profit and loss statements they forwarded to my mortgage company, and now they have stopped answering my emails and phone calls, since my mortgage company sold my mortgage to an inhouse company.
When I tried to find out where I stand now they just kept transferring me to another number, after 4 transfers I had to hang up and go to work, so I still don't know what's happening. I hope Obama's help for homeowners will get me somewhere now since I don't know what to do. They'll have to carry me out kicking and screaming if they think I'll ever leave my house to a foreclosure.
My daughter must think I don't know anything about raising babies. i wonder how my 4 children have turned out to be wonderful human beings. When I mentioned that the baby doesn't seem to be gaining enough weight and she should feed him with a real nipple instead of a plastic nipple cover to keep her nipples from being sore, she told me her neighbor friend used the cover for 10 months and her child is fine. So even though I'm 65 and her friend is 25, she must know best.
They also don't talk to him enough. The baby has never cried when I change his diaper but whenever they do it he screams. His first 3 months are the most important time of his life. If he thinks no one is listening to him, they'll get the message for the rest of his life. One thing I know is how to raise a wonderful human being. I may have screwed up here and there but my children have turned out great.

" New Grandson"

I've been sittin' in limbo for a couple of months but I can't go any longer without announcing the arrival. Thirty-eight hours after my daughter's water broke he finally decided to come out. She was a real trooper and wouldn't accept any drugs. That was 6 days ago but he had to go back to the hospital 2 days ago because he developed jaundice and has to stay under some lights, only coming out to nurse, until his liver begins functioning right.
I really miss him but I can't leave my house because the dogs won't stop licking their grandma's ears.
Yeah! My daughter just called and said they are coming home in a couple hours. I'm so glad he's better.
I've been in limbo because I'm still waiting for the loan modification. They just keep making me fax the same papers over and over again. I've been relieved of the obligation to pay back the loan because of my bankruptcy even though I kept telling them that I wanted to keep the house. So why can't they just let me stay here. I'm sure I've paid off the original price of this house which was $46,500 at least 4 times since we refinanced 3 times to pay off credit card debt. I finally just couldn't keep up with all the payments without my husbands income so I chose to start over. Now I keep getting turned down because of my late payments on the mortgage. I was told that any missed payments would be added to the end of the loan, and since my income is so low right now because of the weather and losing a couple accounts because of the economy, even though I haven't added any new debt since the bankruptcy, they still think I'm a bad risk. I just wish they would write me off and drop it but that is a big dream.
I'm so happy the little man is coming home so "Let's All Dance!"

Berta Eats Rocks!

I wish I could break Berta of eating rocks. She pukes up the rocks she eats most every morning. They are such jagged rocks I worry they will tear her stomach while there, or if any make it to her intestines there has to be some complications. I also worry that some will just stay in her stomach, not able to go anywhere. She's obviously bored so I might take her to work with me if she doesn't stop. She'll probably eat my truck then.
I'm getting a couple days of sunshine so I can get caught up on my accounts, I hope. I can't wait for the warm weather after so much rain, although the grass is starting to grow. I've mowed some places twice already and others are way too soggy still to mow.
I'm still not losing any weight even though I've given up most everything. One problem I'm having is my daughter is baking all these yummy things. The last was apple cinnamon rolls with icing. Now how can you turn that down? I wonder how many calories they were.
I thought my grandaughter is going to be a year older than she really is. It's so hard to remember them all. I'm so thankful for having most all my family living so near to me. There's nothing better so
"Let's All Dance!."

Joey Misses His Sister

Her stomach had turned over then she had 5 seizures within an hour. I told my vet I'd better call my daughter so she could be there but he said there wasn't time. He said she was in so much stress something had to be done right away. He said she probably wouldn't survive the anesthetic while they surgically had to go in and turn the stomach around and then staple it in place. I told him to go ahead and end her suffering. He said he thought that was the best thing to do under the circumstances. I'm surprised she lived as long as she did with all the breathing problems she had all her life.
I had an old friend who came to see the babies when she was born. She picked her up and had her up in her face and heard her gurggling breathing and told me I shouldn't keep her because of it, but I told her that if she has health problems then I should keep her instead of passing her off to someone else. She lived ten years with her bad breathing problems and many vet visits. I just wish that my daughter had the decision of whether or not she wanted to be there.
He gave her a shot to relax her while he went to get the lethal dose. He struggled to find a vein and when he did he was only able to get a few drops in before it collapsed. He chose her other leg but I said she had stopped breathing. He listened for her heart beat and said there was a very faint one so he gave her the rest of it and then listened again and said she was gone.
Joey kept looking around the living room after eating his breakfast. He was used to cleaning up her food if she didn't eat it fast enough.
I'll miss dancing with you Little Lily but I hear "Heaven is Real" so "Let's All Dance!"

Japan Earthquake

Thousands have died and more to come. I imagine it could be as bad here on our Island. I wonder what would happen to the shopping center if a Tsunami hit us. I was weeding the boxwoods when the last one came through. It was just a rolling of the parking lot and only lasted a few seconds. I was also in the 1965 quake and that one was very scary. I had a new baby and another on the way. I grabbed my son who was in his bassinet because it was in front of a huge mirror that was banging on the wall. My first instinct was to run outside but when I opened the door I heard the kids screaming as they ran out of the three story brick grade school that was across the street. My step-mother kept screaming to get under the archway so I did. I heard on the news today that the archway isn't the best place to be, instead you should find something solid and lay down next to it. It ended a few seconds later. Even that one was only a 6.4 or 5 so I can just imagine what a 8.9 or 9. is like.
It's sure going to take them a long time to recover from this one. At least it takes away the focus on Charlie Sheen in the news casts, although it's harder to watch the videos of Japan's destruction than it is to see Charlie self-destruct. Grow up Charlie and "Let's All Dance" so we can start the day off right.

"Charlie Sheen on Today"

I don't know if I believe it when he say's he has stopped drinking, but I totally agree with him that you can only do it yourself. It doesn't matter who can claim they can cure you of whatever, it won't happen unless you finally make up your mind to stop.
Just look at what I've been doing for the last, almost 3 years of my Weight-Loss Journal. My last excuse was from Thanksgiving until the February birthday's is the reason I gained back 20 pounds. There were all those temtations. Blah, Blah, Blah.
My excuse before that was I had to work through the foods that were keeping me from losing, one by one. I finally stopped buying ice cream, crackers, candy, white flour, but I'm having a problem with butter. I gave it up for about a week but went back to it yesterday. It just seems like too much to deprive myself of. I know what not to eat, I just have to walk the walk, talk the talk
I've also been blaming Oprah. She came out talking about your "Best Life." She was ready to finally get a grip on her weight, but the whole season we watched her gain pound after pound until the next season when she confessed she couldn't believe she was still talking about her weight, but was done depriving herself by eating and drinking whatever she wanted. I felt abandoned. If she couldn't do it with all her money and resourses, how could I do it. I wish I could get her and everyone else to join me and the bullie's in the mornings and "Let's All Dance!"

"Hold My Hand"

I was going to blog this morning but as I sit here under a skylight, I can see blue sky overhead, so I'd better get on the road and go scoop horse poop before the expected rain starts. With any luck the rain shadow might keep it away until I'm done, so gotta go, but please be by guest and Let's All Dance!

Christopher Lee, Republican resigns

Another elected idiot has had his actions displayed for the world to see. Why on earth did he think he could go on Craig's List and not get caught? Married with a young son. Why can't they keep it in their pants? Here's another idiot that could be a good candidate for castration.
Also in the news Mubarak is to step down today. I wonder if the next guy will be any better?
The South is getting hit pretty hard with snow and below freezing temperatures. It's a beautiful sunny day here but only 34 degrees so far. I suppose we will get more of the fruits and vegetables that have been harvested even after getting froze, from there. I know we got avocado's that had been frozen in the last freeze because they were all black around the seed. For every one I buy, at least 5 have been crap, for months now. I always tell the checker if I'm replacing the bads ones I've gotten and only one has acted like it's their money I'm trying to get out of paying.
I'm still sitting in limbo waiting for the law firm to settle with my mortgage company, and get me an affordable payment. I should also tell them there are still idiots taking pictures of my house. Al least they have finally stopped hanging notices on my gate asking me to call them. I don't know what they expect to see unless they are making sure just who lives here by running the license plates.
I'm trying to kill time to let it warm up before I go to work, so "Let's All Dance!"

"Mr. Toad's Wild Ride"

I'm back to 150 pounds again, so I've vowed to stop drinking my glass of wine at dinner and I'm going to try to eat half as much as I've been doing. I also think the saltines and butter are a bad idea. It's just hard for me to stop until they are gone from the house so I keep eating and eating the crap and won't replace it this time, I hope. I see that Oprah is done with dieting. She keeps getting wider and wider. All my weight is in my stomach and her's is in her ass and thighs. I'm not sure which is worse to deal with.
I'm going to have to start thinking of doing crunches every morning after the dancing.
I started my morning dance today with a pretty fast song. I usually start out slow and work my way to the fast beats but today I just felt I needed to get a kick start instead. I've been home for the last few days and am ready to get back to work. This week is supposed to be nice so I plan to get the compost pile spread. I hope it covers all the plants because they sure need it.
I got my front yard plants all weeded and the raspberries cut back but I'm hesitating before I get the backyard done because I hear we are still expecting another cold snap. There are so many bulbs coming up and everything is starting to bud. I have plenty else to do for all the accounts so I'm not going to worry about my yard just yet.
The Superbowl is finally over. I tried to watch for the commercials but they didn't make me laugh this year. For 3 million dollars for a 30 second ad you'd think they would be "Wow", but they weren't. They said a one second ad would cost $100,000. If I had the money to waste I'd buy space for "Let's All Dance!" to flash across the screen. Maybe they'd listen if they saw it on the Super Bowl.

It's My First Day Of Medicare Coverage!

I was really excited that I was going to finally have medical coverage when I turn 65, until I found they are taking $115.40 out of my Social Security check so now I get 446.00 a month. I called them and asked if I could skip the deduction for a year or two and pay for my own doctors visit, but they said it would only save me $5.00 a month because they will take it anyway. They feel I'll probably need it more than I do. Yes, I agree that one of the reasons I don't like going to the doctor is the cost but it's more that I think the whole medical system is more about the money than actually caring for people. Of course there are doctors that truly care for your health but most keep you coming in so they'll make more money. Medicare also supports all drug addicts by keeping them addicted. It's a legal way of staying high. The doctors make more money by making you come in before they'll refill your prescriptions while the pharmacy and drug company's get richer and richer.
More later, time to work, it's a beautiful day but very cold still.
In a few weeks I'll be singing "When I'm Sixty-Five" I'll still be saying, "Let's All Dance!"
