Berta Eats Rocks!

I wish I could break Berta of eating rocks. She pukes up the rocks she eats most every morning. They are such jagged rocks I worry they will tear her stomach while there, or if any make it to her intestines there has to be some complications. I also worry that some will just stay in her stomach, not able to go anywhere. She's obviously bored so I might take her to work with me if she doesn't stop. She'll probably eat my truck then.
I'm getting a couple days of sunshine so I can get caught up on my accounts, I hope. I can't wait for the warm weather after so much rain, although the grass is starting to grow. I've mowed some places twice already and others are way too soggy still to mow.
I'm still not losing any weight even though I've given up most everything. One problem I'm having is my daughter is baking all these yummy things. The last was apple cinnamon rolls with icing. Now how can you turn that down? I wonder how many calories they were.
I thought my grandaughter is going to be a year older than she really is. It's so hard to remember them all. I'm so thankful for having most all my family living so near to me. There's nothing better.

Joey Misses His Sister

Her stomach had turned over then she had 5 seizures within an hour. I told my vet I'd better call my daughter so she could be there but he said there wasn't time. He said she was in so much stress something had to be done right away. He said she probably wouldn't survive the anesthetic while they surgically had to go in and turn the stomach around and then staple it in place. I told him to go ahead and end her suffering. He said he thought that was the best thing to do under the circumstances. I'm surprised she lived as long as she did with all the breathing problems she had all her life.
I had an old friend who came to see the babies when she was born. She picked her up and had her up in her face and heard her gurggling breathing and told me I shouldn't keep her because of it, but I told her that if she has health problems then I should keep her instead of passing her off to someone else. She lived ten years with her bad breathing problems and many vet visits. I just wish that my daughter had the decision of whether or not she wanted to be there.
He gave her a shot to relax her while he went to get the lethal dose. He struggled to find a vein and when he did he was only able to get a few drops in before it collapsed. He chose her other leg but I said she had stopped breathing. He listened for her heart beat and said there was a very faint one so he gave her the rest of it and then listened again and said she was gone.
Joey kept looking around the living room after eating his breakfast. He was used to cleaning up her food if she didn't eat it fast enough.
We'll miss you Little Lily!

Japan Earthquake

Thousands have died and more to come. I imagine it could be as bad here on our Island. I wonder what would happen to the shopping center if a Tsunami hit us. I was weeding the boxwoods when the last one came through. It was just a rolling of the parking lot and only lasted a few seconds. I was also in the 1965 quake and that one was very scary. I had a new baby and another on the way. I grabbed my son who was in his bassinet because it was in front of a huge mirror that was banging on the wall. My first instinct was to run outside but when I opened the door I heard the kids screaming as they ran out of the three story brick grade school that was across the street. My step-mother kept screaming to get under the archway so I did and then it ended a few seconds later. Even that one was only a 6.4 or 5 so I can just imagine what a 8.9 or 9. is like.
It's sure going to take them a long time to recover from this one. At least it takes away the focus on Charlie Sheen in the news casts, although it's harder to watch the videos of Japan's destruction than it is to see Charlie self-destruct. Grow up Charlie and "Let's All Dance" so we can start the day off right.
